Can you be 100% authentic in network marketing and succeed? Really think about this…..
Would we be able to recruit people without the psychology tactics of group meetings and 3 way calls?
What would happen if we presented the opportunity the same way we did if we were a small town banker, presenting each of the banks offerings to see what may be the right fit without pressuring the individual to sign up? Better yet, what if we asked questions to identify the persons needs and then present the options that you feel may be right for them? No tricky, slight-of-hand tactics, no pep rallies that create a false sense of motivation then cause buyer’s remorse when the high wears off? Why can’t we treat this business like we are providing a service for the individual instead of “selling” them an opportunity?
Success in MLM
I have been researching “MLM’s” or other Network Marketing companies for a while now and there is a terrifying consistency of failure. I am not sure what the true stats are but the success rate is around 3% the last I read…. that is a 97% failure rate and I think I know why. Now a lot of people say it is lack of teaching, bad attitudes, laziness or the stigma of the industry is to much to deal with…..Sure that is some of it, I just believe we are teaching the business wrong. Yes, the only way to succeed is to have people on your team that you personally sponsor and then help them sponsor more people. Sure great but I can tell you right now that I have worked aggressively, quit my job in my first 3 weeks in the industry, yet I struggle mightily helping my team sponsor others. I used to get so upset at them and, even moreso at myself, because I did not understand why this was happening.
Recruiting in Network Marketing
Ask yourself this if you are in the business currently. Why did you recruit the people on your team to begin with? Because you saw something special in them and you believed they would be “rock stars” like you, am I right? So, it was their personality that you liked and you believed in them. Now that we have established that, ask yourself why they struggle to recruit or get people in the business. They signed up because they believed in the product and even the business opportunity right? Then why are they struggling? I do not believe it is laziness or that they are inept; not even close. The 60 people on my team that I have gotten in the last 3 months are business owners, Plastic Surgeons, Med Spa owners and other extremely competent, brilliant people. So if they are smart enough to be successful at their current jobs why would they fail at network marketing? Do you think it is because we are trying to get them to be something they are not? Why can’t they just be themselves and share why they joined the opportunity in the first place. They obviously had a need and in the case of my team, they loved my product Liquid Biocell. So, please explain to me why it is forbidden for them to just speak their truth, from the heart with people they care about?
I am curious that if all of the mega successful Network Marketing companies are aware of the nasty stigma, why dont they change it? Network marketing is indeed the business of the 21st century and its grows will be unlike anything we have ever seen. You can look at this many ways and here is my opinion.
- It is a little scary to me with the rise of this business model. This is happening because the global economy is about to be an even bigger disaster then it was before and with the need of earning extra income or having jobs on the rise this will be most peoples only options. The jobs that are available most are not even qualified for and with the current Network Marketing teachings, I am not so sure that people are qualified for this business either. Not unless we change some things. Even with the amount of desperate people needing jobs I still believe the failure rate will be just as high and the problem with that is failing at network marketing is worse than failing as a waitress, mail delivery person or even a sales rep for a big pharmaceutical company. In those jobs there are a lot of variables that can effect your performance however being in network marketing is your chance at being a business owner with amazing backing and really low start up cost. Failing at this is miserable especially when you sign up , you are excited about making money and having amazing products to offer.
- I believe that we can kill the stigma of Network Marketing and also improve the success rate dramatically by one small tweak. Just one. By delivering the spirit of authenticity to the business. This doesnt mean no more 3 way calls or meetings, however we must change how they are done. The 3 way call is a psychology game in a way and I wont go into detail but there is a reason why new recruits hate doing them, it is not genuine. The person with the relationship is not even the one speaking, in fact the only part of the conversation they are involved in is the introduction. I will stop there because I do not believe this tactic is meant to do harm, just improve close rates. Why cant the call be simply about finding out about the person and their needs and then offering them a solution? If you found a solution for their needs then it would make it easier for them to duplicate that same tactic because instead of teaching them sales tactics, you are teaching them nothing other than the importance to be authentic. I do think group meetings are important however they way they are done in my opinion may be effective for signing people up however it scares more people away or causes buyers remorse more often than you find that all star rep. I believe if these meetings were treated like pep rallies and even though I cannot offer solutions on improving this in detail I can say I know we can improve here too.
So the point of this blog is simply this. Why cant we be successful in network marketing by being transparent and 100% authentic and then teaching our teams the importance of doing the same thing? I bet you that we would lose less team members and there would be a higher success rate throughout the industry especially if you have a multi patented product with 37 clinicals like Liquid Biocell. Sorry I had to throw in a plug. There are plenty of amazing network marketing companies and I do know people who are incredibly authentic about their approach however it is not the norm and this must change. I want my friends and family to be open to hearing about an opportunity I present to them even if it is a “pyrimad type thang” better known as Network Marketing. I bet not only would more people be open to hearing about the opportunity they would also make successful team members if they just got to be authentic. I want to be a part of this change. I know there is a better way and the perception of this industry can improve if the “leaders” in this industry come together and create a sales culture that is more genuine. Just a thought.
Thank you for allowing me to express myself through writing. I am new at this however it is a tremendous blessing to have this opportunity. God bless you all.
